About Drummer Boy Movie
The movie is set during the American Revolutionary War, this historical Christmas musical brings together family, faith, freedom, sacrifice, and forgiveness, all accompanied by original music from for KING + COUNTRY.
The physical filming of Drummer Boy took roughly three months to complete, with principal photography beginning on location in Ireland in late April 2026 and wrapping in July 2026 to meet its November 2026 release date. While the actual shoot was fast-paced, the movie was a long-term labor of love that spent eight years in active development before cameras finally rolled.
Synopsis
As America’s fight for independence begins, a young drummer boy, an enslaved woman, and a divided family each search for freedom in a world built to deny it. With music carrying hope through battle and loss, Drummer Boy turns the Revolution into a deeply human story of faith, forgiveness, and the belief that no person is born to live in chains or be forgotten.
My Review
If you haven’t seen for King + Country in concert, you need to see them. They put on a good concert. When I heard about this movie there were doing, I had to ask for a screener to do a review, I was blessed to receive a screener to review this movie. After all, my favorite rendition of the Christmas song “Drummer Boy” is by for King + Country and this movie brings the two together.
I enjoyed all of the music, you get to hear a good big of singing especially by for King + Country throughout the movie. This is a must watch for anyone especially if you are fans of for KING + COUNTRY or the song, Drummer Boy or even American History.
You will experience and hear a lot of scripture references in it. You will see some bloody scenes, war scenes, violence, that may not be suitable for younger children. They recommend those 12 and up for this movie. I would add mature children. I do not think a young child should watch it.
I enjoyed the movie, the acting was well done and the music too. It wasn’t too overly musical, for those who do not like musicals. This is not your typical Christmas Manager Drummer Boy type movie. It has a new twist set during the American Revolutionary War.
It has something for everyone, love, romance, music, fighting and much more.
I did catch some Innuendo like I will burn that ship later, so you might pick up on those Easter Eggs in the movie too.
I love it too, because it is about forgiveness too. I believe is very important.
So many scenes that left you wanting to continue watching. You will want to stay until the very end. I even had tears in my eyes watching it.
My screener had a special message, like often do at the end of movies anymore. Stay for the closing credits.
They even have a Pay It Forward feature for you to be able to pay it forward and allow someone to see the movie too who couldn’t afford to go.
Be sure to check out my socials on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram as I share about this movie there too.
About The American Revolutionary War
The American Revolutionary War (1775–1783) was a defining conflict in American history, fought between Great Britain and its thirteen American colonies as they sought independence and freedom from British rule. Beginning with the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, the war led to the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Under the leadership of General George Washington, the Continental Army ultimately secured victory with assistance from France. The conflict officially ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1783, establishing the United States as an independent nation and laying the foundation for the country we know today.
