Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul – A New Christian Movie about Integrity
A Christian Movie Spotlight | Ducking for Jesus
Sometimes, a story is worth telling more than once. And sometimes, revisiting a story reminds us just how much its message is still needed in our world today.
That is the idea behind Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul, the new reimagining of the 2003 Christian movie Flywheel from the filmmaking ministry associated with Alex and Stephen Kendrick. Released in U.S. theaters on October 16, 2026, this new version takes the story that helped launch the Kendrick Brothers’ filmmaking journey and brings it to a new generation of moviegoers.
From a Small Beginning to a New Chapter
If you have followed the Kendrick Brothers over the years, you may remember some of their other faith-based films, including Facing the Giants, Fireproof, Courageous, War Room, Overcomer, and The Forge.
But before those movies reached audiences, there was Flywheel.
The original film premiered in 2003 and was made through Sherwood Pictures, the volunteer-driven filmmaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. It began as a humble project with a budget of approximately $20,000 and a desire to use filmmaking to share the truth of God with others.
More than two decades later, that original story has been reimagined in Brazil, with a Brazilian cast and creative team, under the direct guidance of the Kendrick Brothers. The new film was shot in Portuguese in Rio de Janeiro and has English-language audio for U.S. audiences.
It is a reminder that God can take something that begins small and use it to reach people in ways we might never have imagined.
What Is Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul About?
The new film follows Noah Silva, a used-car salesman whose willingness to do whatever it takes to make a sale begins to affect both his business and his family.
His choices have consequences. The people around him struggle to trust him, and the life he has built begins to unravel.
As Noah faces a series of wake-up calls, he must confront the truth about his behavior and begin the difficult process of restoring his integrity and rebuilding his relationships with his wife and son.
Although the new film introduces a different setting and characters, it holds on to the central message of the original: a person can reach a turning point when he recognizes the wrong in his life and chooses to pursue a different path.

The Importance of Honesty and Integrity
One of the biggest lessons in the Flywheel story is the importance of honesty.
It is easy to talk about doing the right thing when everything is going well. The real test comes when honesty might cost us money, a business opportunity, someone’s approval, or an advantage we could gain by cutting corners.
As Christians, our faith should influence how we conduct ourselves in every area of life. That includes how we treat customers, coworkers, family members, friends, and even strangers.
Consider what Scripture says:
Ephesians 4:25 (NASB1995)
“Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another.”
Honesty is not something we should practice only when someone is watching. It should be part of our character because we desire to honor God.
No business success, financial gain, or personal achievement is worth sacrificing our integrity.
Repentance Is More Than Saying We Are Sorry
Another important theme is repentance.
Sometimes, when we make a mistake, we want to move on as quickly as possible. We may apologize, hope the other person forgets what happened, and carry on as if nothing changed.
But genuine repentance requires more than words. It involves acknowledging our wrongdoing, turning away from it, and making a sincere effort to live differently.
When our actions have hurt others, rebuilding trust may take time. We cannot always undo the damage we have caused, but we can take responsibility for our choices and begin making things right wherever possible.
The story of Flywheel reminds us that a turning point begins when we stop making excuses and become willing to face the truth about ourselves.
That lesson applies to all of us. We do not have to own a car dealership or run a business to struggle with honesty, pride, selfishness, or misplaced priorities.
We all need God’s grace.
God Cares About Our Families, Too
The consequences of our decisions do not always stop with us.
Our choices can affect our spouses, children, parents, friends, and other people who depend on us. When trust is broken, those closest to us may be the ones who feel the pain most deeply.
That is why restoring relationships matters.
Faith should not simply be something we talk about at church on Sunday. It should make a difference in how we behave at home on Monday, how we handle disagreements on Tuesday, and how we treat people throughout the rest of the week.
We should ask ourselves:
- Am I the same person at home that I claim to be in public?
- Do my actions match my Christian beliefs?
- Have I hurt someone and avoided taking responsibility?
- Is there a relationship in which I need to make an honest effort to rebuild trust?
These are not always easy questions, but they are worth considering.
A Reminder That God Can Give Us a New Beginning
One of the beautiful truths of the Christian faith is that our failures do not have to define the rest of our lives.
When we come to God in genuine repentance, we can receive His forgiveness and begin walking in a new direction. That does not mean every consequence disappears or that every relationship will immediately be restored. It means we do not have to remain trapped in the same patterns of sin and dishonesty.
Consider these words from Scripture:
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB1995)
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
God’s grace is not an excuse to continue doing wrong. It is an invitation to live differently.
The story behind Flywheel gives us an opportunity to reflect on what that change can look like in everyday life: taking responsibility, choosing honesty, seeking forgiveness, and allowing our faith to shape our decisions.
Why Stories Like This Matter
Faith-based movies can open the door to conversations that might not otherwise happen. A story about a struggling businessman can lead us to examine our own choices, discuss the importance of integrity with our families, or think more deeply about what it means to live out our faith.
The new Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul also represents something meaningful for Christian filmmaking. Rather than simply reproducing the original movie, the story has been adapted for a Brazilian setting, showing how a faith-centered message can be told through another culture’s filmmaking community.
The Kendrick Brothers’ return to the story that started their movie-making journey is a reminder that a small beginning can become part of something much bigger.
We may never know how far the influence of one faithful act, one honest conversation, or one story about God’s grace might reach.
Final Thoughts: What Is Your Turning Point?
The word flywheel brings to mind something that gains momentum as it continues moving. In our lives, the habits and decisions we repeat can also build momentum, whether for good or for bad.
Dishonesty can lead to more dishonesty. Broken promises can weaken trust. Selfish choices can damage relationships.
But the opposite is true, too.
Choosing honesty, practicing kindness, keeping our promises, seeking forgiveness, and putting our faith into action can help build a life that honors God.
We do not have to wait for a major crisis before examining our hearts. We can begin today by asking the Lord to show us where we need to change.
As you consider watching Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul, think about the questions it raises about your own life. Are your decisions reflecting your faith? Is there an area where you need to make things right? Are you willing to let God lead you in a new direction?
Sometimes, the most important turning point is the moment we stop trying to do things our own way and begin seeking God’s way instead.
My hope is that stories like this will encourage people to look beyond the screen, examine their own lives, and consider how they can live out their faith every day.
After all, sharing the love of Christ is not only about what we say. It is also about how we live.
And that is something we can all put into practice, one day and one act of kindness at a time.
