Nochebuena – A Spanish word often used for The Good Night or even Christmas Eve. The biggest Christmas Fete (Festival) in Latino Heritage. #Nochebuena

Nochebuena

This day is also known as Noche Buena, La Cena de Nochebuena, Navidad or Night of Goodness.

Food especially pork is a part of the festival feast. Most of the time an entire pig is roasted or cooked. Sometimes some families will cook and eat a big turkey dinner instead of the pig.

Feliz Navidad

Usually families play domino’s on this day.

Often a Might Night Mass (Christmas Eve Mass) that is also called Misa de Gallo.

Esta noche es Noche-Buena, Y no es noche de dormir (Tonight is the goodnight, and it is not meant for sleeping.)

It is believed this celebration dates back to the 15th Century.

Poinsettias are often associated with this day too.

On this day the people celebrate the Birth of Jesus. You will also associate The Nativity (Natividad) with this celebration too. Actually this is a huge part of this celebration. So more than likely you will always see a Nativity Scene.

Do you celebrate this Spanish Christmas Eve?

If so, feel free to share about it in the comments below.
