National Pumpkin Day – Another holiday … This time for pumpkins! Do you like pumpkins? Maybe Pumpkin Spice Craze?
National Pumpkin Day
In 2017, Heather and I both got a pumpkin from our visit to Ballinger Farm Crazy Maze in Jefferson City, TN. We decorated our pumpkins that year.
The Holiday
National Pumpkin Day is held annually October 26, just days before Halloween.
What is a pumpkin?
The word pumpkin originates from the Greek word pepon, “large melon”.
According to WikiPedia, a pumpkin is a cultivar of a squash plant, most commonly of Cucurbita pepo, that is round, with smooth, slightly ribbed skin, and deep yellow to orange coloration. The thick shell contains the seeds and pulp. Sometimes you will see a white pumpkin, which has become very popular recently. Learn more!
Pumpkin Spice!
Like her, I am not too big on Everything Pumpkin Spice. Pumpkin Spice is very popular during the fall. All kinds of items including cereal, coffees, food products, etc. have that flavoring.
