The Aflac Duck first appeared in a TV commercial on January 1, 2000, and its popularity quickly led to the creation of various merchandise, including plush toys with voice boxes that say “Aflac!” when squeezed. These talking plush ducks have been produced in different versions over the years, including special holiday-themed ducks and variations for specific campaigns.
